Ethan Klein says he’s giving up his stake in H3, Teddy Fresh and Teddy Glow
The H3 Podcast, about 12.5M YouTube views a month, is on hiatus while its crew weighs life without him, per Tubefilter and Dexerto.
The tea in 3
- Ethan Klein said Oct 23 he is working to remove his ownership and financial stakes in the podcasts, Teddy Fresh, Teddy Glow.
- The H3 crew had said it would not keep working with Ethan involved or profiting; the show is on hiatus.
- Tubefilter says the show gets about 12.5M YouTube views a month; no timeline for the changes has been given.
Ethan Klein says he is working to give up his ownership and financial stakes in the H3 Podcast, Teddy Fresh, Teddy Glow and any joint venture he would profit from. He said so in Instagram Stories on Oct 23, per Dexerto and Tubefilter, one day after the show’s crew said it would not keep working with him involved or profiting.
The move changes the question hanging over one of YouTube’s biggest talk shows. It is less “is it over?” and more “can it run without him?”
What Ethan said
I am working with Hila to urgently remove my ownership and financial stakes in any podcasts, Teddy Fresh, Teddy Glow or any joint venture that I would profit from.— Ethan Klein, on Instagram, Oct 23
He added that “all of your support will go directly to Hila and the Crew,” and said he is doing it “in the hope that people can still support Hila and the Crew without the concern of enriching me.”
He also said of the team: “I know the crew will make an awesome show, they are packed to the brim with the most talented, creative, hilarious and all around great people.”
How we got here
- The H3 Podcast goes on indefinite hiatus.
- Hila Klein posts on Instagram that her husband had an affair of “over 6 months.” We are quoting only her own words on it.
- The H3 crew posts that it stands with Hila and “would not continue working with Ethan involved or profiting in any way.”
- Ethan Klein says he is working to remove his ownership and financial stakes.
What is actually on the line
According to Tubefilter, the podcast started in 2016, runs every Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, and gets around 12.5 million views a month on YouTube. Teddy Fresh and Teddy Glow are described by Tubefilter as Hila’s companies.
The crew’s original statement tied the show’s future to one condition: no Ethan involved, and no Ethan profiting. Ethan’s post is aimed at the second half of that. The crew has not publicly said whether it considers the condition met.
Ethan’s post is a statement of intent, not a finished deal. Dexerto notes he has not said when the changes will be completed, and no details of how ownership would be restructured have been made public.
What we do not know yet
The crew said on Oct 22 that it did not yet know what its decision meant for the show or for the Kleins’ businesses, and Tubefilter says it is now “possible” Hila and the staff will continue on as usual without him. Neither the crew nor Hila Klein has confirmed that, or set a return date for the podcast.
It is also unclear what his exit means for Teddy Fresh and Teddy Glow, or for sponsors, merch and the rest of the operation. No answers on any of that have been made public.
What happens next
For now the H3 Podcast remains on hiatus. The next thing to watch is whether Hila Klein or the crew post a plan, and whether a restructuring is ever announced.
