The tea in 3

  1. Jagex announced a RuneScape animated series with MoistCr1TiKaL (Charlie White) at its RuneFest event in early October.
  2. White will produce through his company Meatier Productions, with Lyrical Animation handling the show.
  3. Development is early; Jagex promised more details in 2027.

MoistCr1TiKaL, the YouTuber whose real name is Charlie White, is helping turn RuneScape into an animated series. Developer Jagex announced the project at RuneFest, the game’s annual event, in the first weekend of October, and described it as a partnership with White and Lyrical Animation.

Who is doing what

According to Tubefilter, White will produce the series through his company Meatier Productions. He is a longtime RuneScape fan who has called it the best MMO, and Tubefilter notes his role looks similar to Jacksepticeye’s on the Bloodborne film: producer, but also a lore expert who can keep the adaptation true to what players know.

Lyrical Animation is the studio behind that Bloodborne movie, which Gizmodo says is produced by Seán “jacksepticeye” McLoughlin, White’s co-star in the game Dispatch. Lyrical is also working on an animated adaptation of Godslap, White’s comic. Tubefilter says that film is slated for 2028.

What Jagex said

Jagex CEO Jon Bellamy unveiled the plan at RuneFest.

For 25 years, our players have helped shape RuneScape’s extraordinary world, its characters and its stories. […] We see huge potential to bring Gielinor to life in new ways, both for the millions who already know and love it and for a whole new audience.— Jon Bellamy, Jagex CEO, at RuneFest

Bellamy added that it is “early days” and that Jagex wanted its players to hear first. Lyrical’s creative director, Daniel Dominguez, said in a statement that helping bring RuneScape’s “laugh-out-loud funny and effortlessly insightful” voice to life alongside White is “a dream come true.”

What’s still unknown

No platform, release window, format or cast has been announced. Jagex has promised more details in 2027, per Gizmodo, and the timing lines up with the game’s 25th anniversary in 2026 and a fourth RuneScape MMO the studio is preparing for the near future.

The bigger trend

Tubefilter points out that Hollywood has been chasing creator-made hits like Iron Lung, and calls it heartening to see studios bring in creators as experts on worlds they did not invent. RuneScape is a game with 25 years of lore and a fanbase that will check every detail.

Where it stands

The series is announced and in early development. Expect White to keep talking about RuneScape on his channels, and expect fans to hold him to the lore.
