Ibai Llanos calls his Netflix move a ‘master plan’ after old clip resurfaces

Ibai Llanos has taken La Velada del Año, the Spanish-language creator boxing-and-music spectacle he invented, off Twitch and sold the next three editions to Netflix. Then, this week, an old clip of him swearing he never would started making the rounds, and he answered it with two words: “master plan.”

The deal was announced Oct 19 and covers the 2027, 2028 and 2029 editions, which will stream exclusively and live on Netflix worldwide.

The clip that came back

According to Spanish outlet El Correo Gallego, an older livestream of Ibai resurfaced on Oct 21-22. In it, he says he wouldn’t sell the event to Netflix and would always do it for YouTube, and that keeping it on free platforms keeps it close to his community.

Translation: he’s saying the “never” was the bluff. He’s joking, and neither side has shared terms or said anything about how the talks went. The report also notes Ibai still owns the event; Netflix is buying the broadcast rights.

The numbers

Netflix says the average audience grew from roughly 1 million in 2021 to more than 6 million in 2026. The 2025 edition peaked at 9.3 million concurrent viewers, which Tubefilter reports was the most-watched Twitch broadcast ever at that point. The 2026 edition drew a 7.67 million peak and, per Tubefilter, did not break as many records as earlier ones.

Can a Twitch hit work on Netflix?

That’s Tubefilter’s framing, and it treats the deal as a test, not a sure thing. The event also went multi-platform in 2026, adding YouTube and TikTok before Netflix, according to Netflix. Ibai’s own pitch, in his statement, is that Netflix lets it get “even bigger without losing what makes it special: the community that makes it all possible.”

What US fans can expect

Netflix says the 2027 edition, La Velada del Año VII, will stream live globally, so you won’t need a VPN or a Spanish TV package. Dates, host city and the fight card haven’t been announced.

What’s on Netflix compares it to the US’s Creator Clash on the boxing side, and to the UK’s Sidemen Charity Match in scale and vibe. It’s also a different show from Paul-style influencer boxing: amateur bouts between creators after months of training, with live music in between, in stadiums like Madrid’s Metropolitano and Santiago Bernabéu and Seville’s La Cartuja. Tubefilter notes Netflix has also signed YouTube creators such as Alan Chikin Chow and The Stokes Twins.

Expect the event to stay in Spanish. Whether Netflix adds English subtitles or commentary hasn’t been announced.
