The tea in 3

  1. On Oct 1, Lady Gaga apologized to beauty creator Golloria and said the way Haus Labs handled her feedback "was wrong."
  2. Haus Labs had asked Golloria to take down her video, citing an embargo; Gaga confirmed the request.
  3. The Sun Dipped Bronzing Veil will now launch with 11 shades, up from six.

Lady Gaga publicly apologized to beauty creator Golloria on Oct 1, saying her brand Haus Labs mishandled criticism of a bronzer launch that had too few deep shades. Gaga’s statement, posted via Haus Labs’ Instagram, confirmed the team asked Golloria to take her review down.

What Golloria said

In May, per ARY News, Golloria posted a video reviewing the upcoming Haus Labs Sun Dipped Bronzing Veil, which was planned to launch with six shades. She said she generally likes the brand’s complexion products, but she was disappointed after swatching the three darkest shades.

Gaga, Haus Labs, you guys usually do not miss. […] That is not a Gaga gag. That’s a Gaga, I got gagged. I don’t know who or what you guys switched up in that lab. But switch it back.— Golloria, in her review video, via SheFinds

In the caption she wrote, per ARY News, that “no one is bigger than the program” and told the brand to “do better.”

The takedown request

Golloria then received an email from the Haus Labs team asking her to remove the video because her products were under embargo, according to SheFinds. She posted a follow-up video pushing back: the products had already been shown publicly on Instagram, she said, and she suggested the brand just didn’t want a negative review online.

Gaga’s apology

Several months later, on Thursday, Oct 1, Gaga responded. She said the company’s initial handling of the feedback “was wrong” and that Haus Labs wanted to “take full responsibility.” She also said launching with six shades “was the wrong decision.” Parts of the statement, as quoted by ARY News and SheFinds:

  • “This was unkind and not at all how a creator or any customer’s voice should ever be treated.”
  • “Thanks to her powerful voice, we decided to pause the launch and go back to the lab.”
  • “I truly apologize to Golloria and the community for where we fell short. You were 100% right.”

She said the team had “important internal conversations” to prevent a repeat and wrote, “Personally, I will see to it.”

What changes

Gaga confirmed the bronzer “will launch soon” with 11 shades. She closed with “We love you, and we are sorry. We hope you can see in these new shades that we took your feedback incredibly seriously.” The statement does not give a new launch date.

Why it matters

Shade ranges are a recurring flashpoint in beauty, and embargo rules are meant to govern timing, not tone. Here, the founder named the creator, said she was right, and the brand changed the product.
