Markiplier’s ‘Iron Lung’ is now on YouTube Movies, and a vinyl score is coming
The self-financed horror film is $4.99 to rent or $9.99 to buy on YouTube; the 48-track soundtrack ships on 3xLP in March 2027.
The tea in 3
- Markiplier's Iron Lung was on YouTube Movies as of Oct 1: $4.99 to rent, $9.99 to buy in the US.
- Outlets differ: Dexerto says over $44M on a $3M budget; Epicstream says over $50M on an estimated $4-5M.
- Bleeding Cool reports a 48-track 3xLP vinyl soundtrack ships in March 2027.
Markiplier’s horror film Iron Lung has moved from theaters to YouTube. As of Oct 1, it is available to rent or buy on YouTube Movies, according to Dexerto, which says Mark Fischbach self-financed, wrote, directed, edited and stars in the film. Epicstream, which updated its streaming guide on Oct 14, lists the same $4.99 and $9.99 prices.
How to watch
The money numbers don’t match across outlets: Dexerto reports more than $44 million worldwide on a $3 million budget, while Epicstream reports more than $50 million from an estimated $4-5 million budget. Neither figure is an official studio number, so treat both as reported estimates.
Dexerto says it’s available in the US, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and the UK (£3.49 to rent, £7.99 to buy). Markiplier has promised more regions once translations are finished. Epicstream adds Canadian prices of CA$6.99 to rent and CA$13.99 to buy, and says it is also on Google Play.
The streaming plan has been in the works for months: in April, Markiplier confirmed it would stream exclusively on YouTube, per Dexerto.
Why YouTube
He also said he had struck a deal with the platform to act as an “aggregator” for indie films, to help filmmakers get past Hollywood “red tape.” Dexerto quotes him from an April 20 live stream: “In my future, I see a trajectory where I’m taking a chainsaw to the industry.”
Dexerto reports the film premiered at the end of January 2026 in theaters at AMC, Cinemark and Regal, with an international release through Cineworld in the UK.
Physical copies and a vinyl score
Dexerto says Markiplier told viewers a DVD and Blu-ray release is “being worked on,” with no date announced.
The soundtrack is getting a vinyl release from Laced Records. Bleeding Cool says composer Andrew Hulshult’s score comes on a 3xLP set with 48 remastered tracks, in a standard black pressing and a “Blood Ocean” edition with cloudy red and transparent discs. It’s up for pre-order, shipping in March 2027. Bleeding Cool lists it at $62; Dexerto lists $68, so prices may vary by retailer.
The score behind the scares
Hulshult, best known for video game music including Dusk and Quake Champions, said he wrote most of the score on the film’s set. He recorded sounds from set pieces like jagged metal sheets and buckets of blood on a handheld recorder, then processed them through a granular synthesizer. Bleeding Cool calls it his first film soundtrack.
What happens next
Next up: the physical release, more regions on YouTube and the March 2027 vinyl. If the aggregator plan works, other indie filmmakers could follow him to the platform.
