The tea in 3

- He had paused the stream at 34 hours, saying he needed family time, after promising to hunt until he found one.
- Paul says he'll evolve it into Shiny Steelix live on Oct 29 and open two Legendary Collection boxes valued at $400,000.
Logan Paul got his shiny. The YouTuber and WWE star caught a Shiny Onix in Pokémon Gold on Oct 5, after 63 hours of gameplay and 7,068 encounters, Dexerto and Wrestling Headlines report. The base odds were 1 in 8,192, so he came in slightly better than average.
How it went
- Paul announces he will hunt his first shiny: “I won’t stop hunting until I catch a shiny Onix,” then evolve it into Steelix.
- The hunt starts, streamed on YouTube and Twitch, per Dexerto.
- After about 34 hours and 3,705 encounters, he steps away: “I feel like a horrible dad and husband… I need to get some family time,” per Dexerto. He later rejoins the stream, then announces another pause because he has to perform on WWE Raw.
- The Shiny Onix appears. “I F**KING DID IT,” he writes on X.
Dexerto’s first story was headlined that he “paused” the stream “after promising to not stop.” Paul said he would return the next day to keep hunting, and the channel showed a “BRB – At work” message over his old YouTube videos in the meantime, per Dexerto.
The numbers
At the 34-hour mark, Paul said he had nearly 1 million Twitch views, per Dexerto.
The “hacks” accusation
After his post, one user claimed he “used hacks.” Paul rejected it publicly:
No hacks used. Original Pokémon Gold cartridge in a GB Operator, streamed live for weeks with plenty of witnesses.— Logan Paul, on X, via Dexerto
He also tagged Community Notes on the post making the claim. Dexerto reports he pointed to weeks of footage. Dexerto’s report includes no evidence for the claim.
What happens next
Paul says he will evolve the Onix into a Shiny Steelix live on YouTube on Oct 29. He’s nicknamed it the “24k Gold Titan.” Paul says the same stream will include opening two boxes of Pokémon’s Legendary Collection, which he valued at a combined $400,000.
Whether the Oct 29 stream goes smoother than the first one is the open question; as of Oct 10, Wrestling Headlines notes the evolution had not happened yet. Paul says he has the Metal Coat and just needs a link cable and a trade partner, per Wrestling Headlines.
