Kai Cenat says he’s assembling a team to stream from space, maybe not by 2027
On his Oct 8 stream Kai said he wants astronauts and space researchers on board. It is a goal he has been repeating since his 2024 subathon.
The tea in 3
- On Oct 8 Kai said he is building a team of astronauts and "people who can study space" to stream from a shuttle.
- He said it "may not be in 2027," but he is determined to bring his audience along.
- He first floated the idea during Mafiathon 2 in November 2024, saying he'd need the right people, like Elon Musk.
Kai Cenat says he wants to livestream from space, and he is now putting a team together to try. On his Oct 8 Twitch stream, titled “Leave Me Alone,” he said he plans to assemble astronauts and “people who can study space” with the goal of broadcasting from a space shuttle.
He gave himself some room on the timeline: the trip “may not be in 2027,” he said, but he is determined to bring his audience with him.
What he said
Kai told viewers he is already preparing on stream, with an arc built around the planets and the solar system. Win.gg reported the target as 2027 and said some of the prep work may show up in his streams.
This is not new
- During Mafiathon 2, Kai says that if he could reach the right people, such as Elon Musk, he could go to space and be the first to stream from there. He then tweets at Musk saying the same.
- On The Jennifer Hudson Show he says he was supposed to go to space that year, but some things did not happen.
- He says he is assembling the team and the goal is a shuttle stream.
How hard is it?
Win.gg points out that a real trip would involve medical screening, training and regulatory approvals, plus specialized streaming equipment and a lot of money. It also notes that private citizens have flown to space commercially, so the idea is not impossible.
Kai is not the only streamer with the dream. Win.gg notes IShowSpeed has said he wants to go beyond Earth too, after visiting every country he has left.
Kai has not named a space company, a flight, a date or a budget in anything we found. So far this is a stated goal and a team in the making, not a booked trip.
What Kai is doing before then
His next stop is closer to Earth. Kai is heading to Japan with Ray for a multi-stream episode of his Exploring the Unexplored series, which started in Iceland. He described the series as one where he “explores nature somewhere and goes crazy with that.”
What happens next
Expect more space talk on his streams. Whether it ends in an actual launch depends on money, approvals and spaceflight companies, none of which Kai controls.
