The tea in 3

  1. Ye stopped by Kai Cenat's VIVET booth at ComplexCon in Los Angeles on Oct 4.
  2. On stream, Kai said Ye told him about his boot: "I like how you already have it."
  3. In 2024, Ye DM'd Kai "Don't make no jokes about my clothes" after Kai went viral in his too-big merch.

Ye pulled up to Kai Cenat’s VIVET booth at ComplexCon in Los Angeles on Oct 4, a little over two years after he DM’d Kai “Don’t make no jokes about my clothes.” Complex reported that Ye pulled up on Sunday, Oct 4, at ComplexCon’s 10-year anniversary festival at the Los Angeles Convention Center, after the two had a public feud in 2024.

The clip of them talking went viral, and a few days later Kai broke down the whole conversation on stream. Spoiler: it was about a boot.

What actually happened

According to The Source, Ye arrived at ComplexCon with Bianca Censori and then showed up at Kai’s VIVET booth. Complex’s Day 1 recap described the setup as huge and elaborate, with celebrities like Savannah James and French Montana browsing the merch.

In the viral clip, Kai and Ye are talking about VIVET’s electrician boot, which Dexerto lists at $320 in the brand’s debut line.

What Kai said

On stream, Kai explained he was pitching Ye on a new version of the boot:

I’m explaining how we are designing a mid-top version, a shorter length oneโ€ฆ We about to release a mid-weight.โ€” Kai Cenat, on stream (via Complex)

Ye’s answer, per Kai: “I like how you already have it.” Kai said Ye also liked how big the boot is and pointed down at his own tall boots, since he’s a big fan of that look. Kai said he got a lot of compliments on the piece from Ye. That’s Kai’s account of the conversation; we didn’t find Ye describing it publicly.

Why this is a big deal

  1. A clip of Kai in Ye’s too-big Vultures merch goes viral; Ye DMs “Don’t make no jokes about my clothes” and later adds “Don’t play with me” (Complex)
  2. The two briefly connect at the Grammys (Complex)
  3. VIVET debuts “Collection 1” at New York Fashion Week (theGrio)
  4. Ye visits the VIVET booth at ComplexCon
  5. Complex publishes Kai’s breakdown of the moment

The plot twist here is that the beef started over clothes, and the makeup happened over clothes too. This time Kai is the one selling them. When VIVET debuted in New York, social media users pointed out similarities to Yeezy, theGrio noted, so Ye giving the boot a thumbs up lands a little differently.

Kai CenatWants to drop a shorter, mid-top version of the boot.

Where it stands

Nobody issued a peace treaty, but going from a warning DM to boot notes at a fashion booth is about as clear a vibe shift as it gets. The real question now: does VIVET still drop the mid-top?
