The tea in 3

  1. Livestream From Hell landed on Prime Video on Sept 30 with almost no promo.
  2. Hart, Cenat and Druski play themselves and are also producers on the Amazon MGM horror-comedy.
  3. It was first teased during Kai's Mafiathon 3, when 550,000+ people were watching live.

Kevin Hart, Kai Cenat and Druski really did surprise-drop a horror-comedy: Livestream From Hell hit Prime Video on Sept 30 with almost no promotion beforehand, according to Net Influencer. It’s an Amazon MGM Studios release, directed by David Janoff, and rated TV-MA in the US.

All three play versions of themselves, and all three are producers too. It’s also Kai’s first leading role in a movie, Net Influencer reports.

Wait, what’s it about?

Hart starts his own livestream and invites Kai and Druski over to his very extra house, per Complex. Things go badly. Then they get worse: Net Influencer describes a broadcast that goes from staged pranks to a full-on murder mystery.

Net Influencer says the movie is rated 16+ in some regions, with warnings for violence, frightening scenes and flashing lights.

The cameo list is the real plot

Complex counted a long list of guests who wander into the stream, and plenty of them don’t stick around:

  • Winnie Harlow: The first guest; after several segments she’s one of the first to storm out
  • Kel Mitchell: Plays the Extreme Noodle game with the guys
  • Jerry O’Connell: Bakes red velvet cookies and ends up upset
  • La La Anthony: Does a “pop the balloon” segment, then leaves
  • Marshawn Lynch: Plays tennis with Hart
  • Kam Patterson: Plays a DoorDasher

Complex says Duke Dennis, Fanum, RayAsianBoy and Sexyy Red also show up. It’s a who’s who of streaming, music and Hollywood, crammed into one very bad night.

It was teased a year ago

Sept 30surprise release

The project was first teased about a year ago during Kai’s Mafiathon 3 subathon on Twitch, when Hart and Druski showed up live to reveal the trailer to more than 550,000 viewers, according to Net Influencer.

Behind the scenes it’s a three-company team-up: Hart’s Hartbeat, 4LIFERS Entertainment and OBB Pictures, per Complex.

Why it matters

Hollywood keeps trying to bottle streamer energy. This time the streamers produced it themselves, built it around a livestream, and launched it to an audience that had already watched the trailer drop live on Twitch.

Where it stands

As of Oct 19, Rotten Tomatoes lists no critic reviews and no audience score yet, so there’s no official verdict yet. It’s streaming now on Prime Video, just in time for Halloween.
